Student Loans

Conservation Employees’ Credit Union is dedicated to not only the financial success of its members, but also the educational accomplishments that they pursue. It is for this reason that we offer student loans to qualified members seeking academic success. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for a student loan:

  • The student must be enrolled on a full-time basis in an accredited college, university or technical training program.
  • The student must provide proof of enrollment and a letter from admissions.
  • The student may need a qualified co-maker unless able to provide proof of full-time employment, an established credit report and an acceptable debt-to-income ratio.
  • The student must reapply and establish creditworthiness each year.
  • The student must be a member in good standing at CECU.
  • The student must notify the credit union immediately upon leaving an educational program.

Principal And Interest Payment While Enrolled In School

Interest and principal payment will begin within 60 days of the loan disbursement, and loan terms shall not exceed six years. The interest rate for this option is 4.00%. Borrow responsibly
We encourage students and families to start with savings, grants, scholarships, and federal student loans to pay for college. Evaluate all anticipated monthly loan payments, and how much the student expects to earn in the future, before considering a private student loan.
These loans are made by Sallie Mae Bank. Conservation Employees' Credit Union is not the creditor for these loans and is compensated by Sallie Mae for the referral of loan customers.
Applications are subject to a requested minimum loan amount of $1,000. Current credit and other eligibility criteria apply. Click here for additional eligibility information about each product.
1Although we do not charge a penalty or fee if you prepay your loan, any prepayment will be applied as outlined in your promissory note—first to Unpaid Fees and costs, then to Unpaid Interest, and then to Current Principal.
